Cissus rhombifolia
Family - Vitaceae
Cissuses are the close relatives of grape vine and are grown indoors as climbing foliage plants.
There are several species of Cissus that are commonly grown as house plants.
I have had the one called Cissus rhombifolia also known as grape ivy.
Cissuses came from tropics and do like warmth. Some variaties may even drop
leaves if temperature will go below 65 F during active growth period.
Bright location is preferrable for cissus but semishady will suffice too. Never
direct sun - the leaves will get ugly brown patches.
Cissus doesn't like to be overwatered. Let the top quarter of inch of the soil
to dry out between waterings.
To form nice and bushy plant pinch cissus often at all the points where the new
growth comes out. All purpose soil will be good enough for grape ivy. |
