Umbrella tree or Schefflera arboricola

Schefflera Family - Araliaceae
With all it's beautiful appearance this plant is very easy to grow and propagate.
It will feel great in all purpose or tropical mix soil. Don't put it under direct sun - the leaves will burn, other then that - schefflera will appreciate any light conditions - from bright light to semishady and shady. Propagate scheffleras from cuttings. Don't even bother to root it in the water or with special powders, just put it in the pot with wet soil and don't forget to water it often enough to keep the soil slightly moist.
When it will start to grow, cut back the top every once end then to keep your plant compact and bushy.
As for the watering - ideally you should keep the potting mix evenly wet all the time, but in reality schefflera one of those plants that will not complain if you forget to water it one time or overwater it the other time.
I put my schefflera under warm shower from time to time. I think they don't like dust on the leaves and feel very good after bath.
